World Immunisation Week 2019

“Prevention is better than cure “


On the occasion of World Immunization week, on 29th April 2019, Students of Teerthanker Mahaveer Medical College, Moradabad, UP, held an awareness talk on HPV vaccination in association with AMSA-India.
This talk was given by the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology to students of Teerthanker Mahaveer Engineering college of targeted age group.
The talk was directed towards the prevention of Cervical cancer, clearing the myths related to getting vaccinated like its side effects, chances of getting cervical cancer by getting vaccinated etc to fill the gaps in immunization coverage and its progress for the betterment of society.

Pamphlets for awareness of HPV vaccine was distributed among the students.And after the event, doubts of students and faculty of engineering college were cleared patiently.

Moreover, Online quiz took place for medical students on awareness of HPV vaccine was held at the official batch groups. This included 4 particulars,15 multiple choice question with 1 review question(each question, there is a time limit of 20 seconds). Main objective was to evaluate students awareness on HPV.

“An Awareness Talk”


An awareness talk on National Immunization schedule (NIS) was held by students of SGRD, Amritsar on 1st May 2019 in the Pediatrics ward of Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital, Vallah.

The Parents were made aware about the NIS and the dosage, the use of vaccines and how they provide life long immunity to children if given on right time. Brief overview was given in order to overcome the superstitions and barriers about immunization.

Pamphlets were also distributed which had all the information about immunization in the local language.
The questions/doubts regarding immunization were cleared in the end.

“The first step toward change is awareness”


On the occasion of immunization week ,AMSA-India members of CM medical college organised awareness talk on MR vaccine in Urban Health Training Centre , Baikunthdaham 26th April, 2019, create awareness among patients/attendants about the importance of vaccine.

A skit was prepared and performed under the guidance on Dr Naushad Alam (Assistant professor) by the students/members of CM medical college .

A doubt session was also conducted and all the doubts of the people watching were cleared.

“Awareness talk by DMCH Students”


The students of DMCH held an awareness talk on immunisation in a slum area at BRS Nagar. The people were taught about the importance of getting vaccinated and how the government of India has made it easier for them by reducing the cost of some vaccines and how some of them are given even free of cost. They were also educated about maintaining hygiene and its importance. We distributed soaps and the children learned about the steps of hand washing.

“Awareness paves way to good health”

AMSA-lndia members of Shri B.M Patil Medical College, Bijapur in association with Human Touch organized an interactive session on menstrual hygiene and HPV vaccination on 29th April 2019. It was conducted for the staff and students of BLDE engineering college.

The talk was directed towards prevention of problems due to :-
• Poor menstrual hygiene.
• Myths & taboos related to menstruation.
• Importance of HPV vaccination (its reach and availability) .

“Importance of NIS”


AMSA India members of Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College and Dr. R N Cooper Municipal General Hospital, Mumbai, interviewed total 50 patients/attendants in the Out patient department(OPD) of department of paediatrics.

Explained them the importance of following NIS(national immunization schedule) and also distributed pamphlets in local language so as to make them aware about benefits of immunization(in detail)and what all the new born can suffer from if not immunised.

Patients were also informed regarding vaccines like:- • pneumococcal vaccine.
• HPV vaccine .
• Rota vaccine.
• MR vaccine campaign. .

“Awareness talk by GMC, Patiala Students”


AMSA members of Government Medical College, Patiala, on 8th April 2019, organised an awareness talk on immunisation at the Community Health Centre, Model Town. They talked about the National Immunisation Schedule as well as the protocols to follow in case of adverse reactions.

Posters were put up in the local language (Punjabi) and English to educate people through print media, so as to educate them about the advantages of on-time vaccination and the precautions to be taken in order to prevent adverse reactions.
