AMSA Members of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bengaluru held an event on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week on August 6, 2019 in association with the Department Of Paediatrics. Two awareness talks were held, one in the VIMS Hospital reception area in the morning and
another in the post natal ward in the afternoon.
The talk was given by College heads Shivika Jindal in English, Karan Kanchan in Hindi and volunteer

The talk was given chronologically in English, Hindi, Bengali and Kannada.
The mothers were told of the advantages of colostrum and regular and exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers were also told about some local myths on breastfeeding and discouraged from following
The mothers were then showed some videos on the advantages of breastfeeding.
2 skits, one in Hindi and one in Kannada, were performed by 4th year students. The skit in Hindi was on the topic of working. mothers and how they cope with breastfeeding. The Kannada skit was on the topic of ‘myths surrounding breastfeeding.
Post-natal mothers were assembled in a room and told about the different positions of breastfeeding.
Because these mothers couldn’t attend the event in the morning they were also told of the advantages and myths of breastfeeding.

AMSA India members of Government Medical College, Patiala organised breast feeding awareness session on 3rd August 2019 in ob&gyn ward.
A presentation was presented in local language and the audience were made aware about the benefits of breast feeding.
