The Abortion Curriculum

Every year, thousands of women face life threatening situations due to unsafe abortions. While global attention is often on sensational headlines, the nuances of abortion procedures worldwide remain overshadowed. In India, a nation of traditions customs, the complexities deepen. The WHO reveals that in Asia, India plays a significant part with unsafe abortions resulting in 12% of all maternal deaths, accounting for nearly 38,000 lives annually. Such statistics raise pressing concerns. However, the real challenge lies not in just in the numbers but in addressing the social norms, patriarchal barriers, and the silence and stigma around abortion. Only through open dialogue and education can these barriers be dismantled. ISAY (Indian Safe Abortion Youth) Advocates is an advocacy group, consisting of medical students from Mumbai working to sensitise other young students on these ground.

With hearts filled with excitement, the exchange took its track with high spirits.
It was a deep dive into heart of one of the most fascinating civilisations in history with a touch of medicine into it.
Exploring the timeless wonders of Egypt – from the majestic pyramids to the tranquil Nile, every moment was like a journey through history.
The exchange was possible with the help Suez Canal University and Hospital. It is a prominent educational institution and hospital in Ismailia. The scientific program organised by them helped the delegates to engage in hands on examinations and procedures. Do
Navigating through the streets of Ismailia, Cairo, Portsaid and Sokhna, the delegates landed back safely with some lifelong memories in their luggage.
