Bioethics Unit
The BU is one of the AMSA India Subsidiaries- set up in 2019 . Our mission is to promote bioethics within the Indian medical student community. We have been at the forefront of efforts to enhance the social literacy of medical students, organizing workshops nationwide to educate and inform students from “the pillars of bioethics” to much more complex nuanced explorations of social justice and literacy.
We have pioneered an array of novel events focusing on bioethics and social justice within the medical fraternity. Embracing the ideals of AMSA International—“Knowledge, Action, and Friendship”—we have directed our efforts to Educate, Advocate, and Liberate.
Looking ahead, AMSA India Bioethics Unit aspires to be the vanguard of the bioethics movement in India.
We envision the unit evolving into a premier organization in the field of bioethics, leading the way in ethical discourse and action, fostering a more just and equitable healthcare system for all.
This year we have hosted a bioethical themed poetry competition, article and opinion writing competition looking into healthcare workers with hiv , we organized a mock constitutional hearing bases abortion rights with MSFC ,we have been taking classes for all MERSA methodologies , we have organised national and international based workshop and panel discussions , we have held weekly bioethics course
